School Readiness Assessment
Package 4: School Readiness Assessment: Age Range: 3:0 to 6:11 (years:months)
Our School Readiness Assessment is a general screening assessment, it is not a diagnostic assessment. The aim of this assessment is to help increase your child's readiness for school. The aim is to assess emotional, social, behaviour, cognitive and general living skills and to provide recommendations on areas that may require further support to help increase your child's school readiness. Many parents find themselves asking the questions: is my child ready for school next year? Will they cope in a new and demanding school environment? How do I get my child ready for school? If you are a parent asking yourself these questions, the School Readiness Assessment package would be recommended.
School Readiness is a measure of the knowledge, skills and behaviours that enable children to participate and succeed in school. School readiness is about the development of the whole child – their social and emotional skills, physical skills, communication skills and cognitive skills, not simply whether they can begin the reading and writing process.
The Bracken School Readiness Assessment, 3rd Edition is a brief screening assessment that tests children across 6 key areas that determine readiness for formal education. Areas assessed include knowledge of the following: Colours, Letters, Numbers/Counting, Sizes/Comparisons and Shapes.Through administration of this assessment tool, we can understand the skills that are crucial in the early years of school and assess appropriateness for formal education or required intervention. Research shows that children who demonstrate academic readiness also demonstrate greater achievement throughout their early years of school. It can also help identify where further assessment and intervention may be needed. Our Brilliant Minds informal measure will further screen your child's knowledge of letters, writing of own name and broader everyday living skills.
Our ‘School Readiness Assessment’ package is comprised of:
Pre Appointment: Prior to the initial session, parent and teacher (childcare provider) rating scales will be sent to gain greater and more extensive knowledge of your child across various domains.
