THE NON-VERBAL COGNITIVE ABILITY ASSESSMENT (Non-Verbal IQ Test)

This package is available from 4 years of age to 21 years old. The Non-Verbal Cognitive Ability Assessment package is recommended for children and young people who require a cognitive ability assessment and have speech, language and communication difficulties; are English language learners, or are individuals from diverse backgrounds including Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander. The Non-Verbal Cognitive Ability Assessment would be also suitable for hard of hearing or individuals that are deaf; gifted individuals from a culturally and linguistically diverse population; or individuals with diagnosed communication disorders such as Aphasia, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Selective Mutism. The Brilliant Minds Non-Verbal Cognitive Ability Assessment includes a cognitive assessment and assessment of adaptive functioning. The primary cognitive assessment utilised is the Wechsler Nonverbal Scale of Ability (WNV). The WNV Scale is a reliable and efficient scale to accurately assess cognitive ability "when language poses a barrier to typical administration, or where traditional intellectual assessment results would be questionable due to language-related difficulties (Pearson 2022). The WNV scale assesses children and young people up to the age of 21 years, 11 months. The Test of Non-Verbal Intelligence, Fourth Edition (TONI-4) will be utilised as an additional tool to provide supplementary assessment information where required. A series of questionnaires will be sent to parents/guardians and teachers to gain the required additional information. It is also recommended that copies of any previous assessment and school reports be provided to the psychologist.
This package includes:
  • Session 1: Parent interview (1 Hour). No children are to attend the intake session. Rating scales are sent following interview. This interview can be done in clinic or via Zoom.
  • Session 2: Cognitive Assessment with Chiild - Wechsler Non-Verbal Scale of Ability (WNV) and TONI-4 (up to 2 Hours)
  • Session 3: Parent/Guardian Feecback session - (1 Hour)

A written report is provided as part of this package. Please note that there is a two to three week turn around for report writing. There is up to a four week turnaround for report writing if the assessment is completed by a provisional psychologist.
Total Cost is based on 7 Hours of clinician time, inclusive of written report) A $400 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking.
