About the Package
The Combined Autism and ADHD Assessment
At Brilliant Minds Psychology, we provide a unique experience for Autism and ADHD assessments. We follow a gold standard assessment approach.
ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) represents a unique neurodivergent profile that encompasses both children and adults, celebrating diverse cognitive landscapes. This distinctive neurological variation is characterised by individual strengths and challenges, including differences in social communication, interactive patterns, repetitive behaviors, and sensory processing. Embracing these variations as part of the rich tapestry of human neurodiversity, we recognise the importance of fostering understanding and support. By acknowledging and embracing these unique qualities, we empower individuals to navigate life with resilience and confidence. Our goal is to promote an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives are valued, and each individual's journey is recognised and celebrated. Despite the challenges, our focus is on unlocking the potential within, allowing for personal growth and meaningful connections in various aspects of life, including home, school, and community interactions.
ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a unique neurodevelopmental expression, showcasing a distinct pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity. This pattern, rather than being viewed as a limitation, contributes to the diverse range of cognitive experiences that make each individual wonderfully unique. ADHD can influence daily functioning at home, school, and within the community, but we view it as an integral aspect of one's neurodivergent journey. Understanding ADHD within the broader context of neurodiversity allows us to appreciate the strengths that often accompany this diagnosis. Rather than perceiving inattention or hyperactivity as hindrances, we recognize them as manifestations of a dynamic and creative mind. Our approach emphasises the celebration of cognitive diversity, acknowledging that different ways of thinking bring valuable perspectives to the world.
In the spirit of neuro-affirmation, we recognize that ADHD often coexists with other neurodevelopmental conditions, such as ASD. Simultaneously assessing these aspects provides a comprehensive understanding of an individual's cognitive landscape, guiding us to tailor support and strategies that honour their unique strengths and challenges. Our goal is to empower individuals with ADHD and ASD to navigate life authentically, fostering a sense of self-worth and promoting engagement within their communities.
A dual assessment will provide an understanding of a child's cognitive strengths and areas of need, as well as recommendations for school and learning support. Please note that this assessment does not guarantee a diagnosis of ASD and ADHD. We do not offer school visits as a part of this package. Parent and Teacher questionnaires are included as a part of this package.
