About Candy
- Candy has worked at Brilliant Minds Psychology since 2015. She works Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the clinic. Candy provides therapeutic intervention and assessments at Brilliant Minds Psychology. Candy has extensive experience in diagnostic assessments and has undergone intensive training in ASD Assessment. Candy has a weatlh of experience and enjoys working with young children, children and adults. Candy is registered as a general psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Candy is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. Candy has worked at Brilliant Minds Psychology since 2015 and is one of our most experienced child psychologists. Candy is highly trained in assessment of autism spectrum conditions and learning disorders.
- Candy works with children of all ages in the areas of general behavioural management including sleep problems and toilet training, social skills training, as well as emotional management (anxiety and anger). Candy also consults with adults in the areas of emotional management and various sleep disorders, providing therapy and counselling based on evidenced based therapy.
- Candy has undergone specific training in Perinatal Psychology and this is an area of interest for her.
- Candy has extensive experience in the area of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), her work in this area has mainly focused on developing individualised behavioural management strategies, parenting support, and working with schools to support children with ASD in the school environment. She has extensive experience in early intervention for young children with an ASD. Candy is also experienced in providing social skills education (individualised or in group) and emotional development training in persons with ASD.
- Candy has a special interest and extensive training in assessment for determining IQ, education assessments, ADHD Assessment, giftedness, intellectual strengths and weaknesses, as well as identifying specific learning disorders i.e. reading, written expression and mathematics impairment. She also provides diagnostic assessment for Autism Spectrum Disorders for children using gold standard measures including the ADOS and ADI-R.

Cognitive Assessment
Candy conducts cognitive and intellectual impairment assessments for children and adults. Sometimes an assessment is required for special school entry, or as part of a learning assessment.
Emotional Regulation
Candy works with children and parents to teach emotional regulation skills. Emotional regulation includes learning to identify emotions, label emotions and developing strategies to cope better.
Social Skills
Candy has extensive experience working with children with an autism spectrum condition. Candy provides sessions focusing on social skill training.
Autism Assessment
Candy is one of our most experienced psychologist with autism assessment in children and adults.
Parenting Training
Candy enjoys working with parents to help them learn behaviour strategies to manage difficult behaviours. Candy is guided by an evidence based approach.
Anxiety Conditions
Candy has experience in anxiety based interventions and primarily uses a CBT approach. Anxiety conditions include separation anxiety, generalised anxiety difficulties, worry, obsessive compulsive disorder, social anxiety and selective mutism.
