The Adult ADHD In Clinic Assessment
The Adult ADHD Assessment package is available for adults 16 years and over. The Adult ADHD Assessment is recommended if you are experiencing difficulties with concentration, inattention, impulsivity and/or hyperactivity. This is a diagnostic assessment for Adult ADHD, including an assessment of general intellectual ability and a review of executive functions. This assessment also involves assessment of visual and auditory attention. A task-orientated computerised system to visually assess attention-related problems by indexing the respondent’s performance in four areas: attentiveness and impulsivity, sustained attention and vigilance. The auditory component of this assessment assesses auditory processing and attention-related problems by indexing the respondent's performance in areas of inattentiveness, impulsivity. The assessment provides an understanding of cognitive strengths and weaknesses, as well as provides recommendations for support for personal understanding, workplace support and psychological support.

Symptoms of Adult ADHD:- A history and current difficulty concentrating and remaining focused on a task- Disorganisation of tasks and activities- Difficulties prioritising tasks and activities- Forgetfulness and tendency to lose things- Poor time management skills- Trouble multitasking- Impulsiveness such as acting or speaking before thinking- Fidgeting, excessive activity or restlessness- Difficulty for sitting for long period of time- Poor planning- Low frustration tolerance- Difficulty waiting for something- Emotional difficulties such as easily stressed, low self-esteem
The primary symptoms cover two domains of difficulty: inattention and hyperactivity/ impulsivity. It is to be noted that for adults the symptoms ofhyperactivity become less visible with age.
Diagnostic process and clinical interviewTo be diagnosed with ADHD:• Symptoms need to be excessive for the developmental age of the individual• Symptom must be present before the age of 12 years• Symptoms must persist for longer than 6 months• Symptom must contribute to impairment across multiple settings such as home,school/learning, work, and/or community• Our ADHD Interview for adults examines and establishes the severity, duration and frequency of the symptoms• Review of personal history, including childhood symptoms, development and progress such as attainment of developmental milestones, language ability, evidence of inattentive, hyperactive, impulsive behaviour and emotional regulation challenges.• Review family history and current family interactions, relationships and attachment• Review of learning and school performance, including cognitive ability and capacity to learn, academic achievement, behaviour at school, as well as attendance• Completion of standardised rating scales, as well as having those familiar with the adult such as parents or family members, partner, teachers, and/or employers• Reviewing and assessing for other psychological conditions may contribute to or mimic the symptoms of ADHD such as depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, learning difficulties and personality disorders• Reviewing past and present functional capacity such as daily living skills, work history and achievement, and relationship formation and maintenance of social relationship. The Assessment Breakdown/How It Works
Session 1: Intake Session
2 Hours
including a clinical interview and review of the DSM-5-TRADHD criteria. Rating scales and relevant questionnaires will be sent prior to the session orcompleted within the session. (It is important all questionnaires are completed prior to yourfirst appointment). In Clinic or via Telehealth
Session 2: Testing Session 1

Cognitive Testing using WAIS-IV

Computerised Test (1 hour) - This task involves the assessment of visual and auditory attention. A task-orientated computerised system to visually assess attention-related problems by indexing the respondent’s performance in four areas: attentiveness, impulsivity,sustained attention and vigilance. A comprehensive report with recommendations will be provided. Please note that there is a two to three week turn around for report writing
How is the assessment scheduled?
We generally schedule the assessment to occur over the course of a single day. 5 Hours of your time will be required in the clinic on the one day.
Cost
$2860
This assessment is based on 11 hours of clinical time.
A $500 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking.
This assessment is not covered by Medicare. If you have private health insurance, please contact your provider to see how much they can cover for you.
The private health code for assessment is 100.
